this notice explains how the Let’s mobile app handles your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). it is written to be read, not to be survived.
the Let’s app is operated by Lets-App, registration number 2026/703579/07, of 106 Hercules Street, Roseville, Pretoria, 0084, South Africa. we are the responsible party for the personal information described here.
our information officer is Mothae Namane, reachable at privacy@lets-app.co.za. you may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.
this notice covers the Let’s mobile app. the website notice covers this site and the waitlist.
if you turn on face login, the check is performed by your device against the face or fingerprint already enrolled in its secure hardware.
Let’s never receives, processes or stores biometric information. the app is told only whether the check passed. you can turn face login off at any time under settings and use a code instead.
people you share a plan with can see your name, your photo, whether you are verified, and the plan itself.
your gender and your approximate distance appear only if you leave those switched on under privacy. your email address, phone number and date of birth are never shown to other users.
your account, profile, plans, messages and settings are stored in our database, hosted by Supabase in London, United Kingdom. a copy of some of it is kept on your device so the app works while you are offline.
our hosting provider has no data centre in South Africa, so your information is processed outside the country. we chose the United Kingdom because its data protection law offers protection comparable to POPIA. section 72 of POPIA permits a transfer on that basis, supported by our written agreement with the provider.
these are operators acting on our instructions under a written agreement. we do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
to provide the service you asked for, which needs a profile and a way to reach you.
to keep people safe — verification, the age limit, and handling reports.
with your consent, for anything optional, such as your photo or your notification preferences. you can withdraw that consent by changing the setting or deleting the item.
these deletions run automatically, every night. where a report has been made, related records may be kept longer when that is needed to handle the matter or to meet a legal obligation.
every table is behind row-level security, so the rules about who may see a plan, a chat or a profile are enforced by the database itself rather than by the app.
ratings can be read only by the person who wrote them. reports can be read by no user at all — the person reported is never told who reported them. meet-up codes are issued by the server and are readable only by the two people who share them.
you can delete your account at any time from inside the app, under settings and privacy. deletion removes your profile, plans, saved items and settings, and cannot be undone.
if you cannot get into the app, the account deletion page sets out what is deleted, what is kept, and how to ask us to do it for you.
to exercise any of these, write to privacy@lets-app.co.za or use the help and support screen in the app.
Let’s is not for anyone under 18. we do not knowingly hold information about children. if we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we remove it.
if we change anything material, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. we will not quietly broaden what we do with your information.
